MY DOGS
My dogs are
all clicker trained for everything from daily manners to advanced
competition skills. I do not use verbal or physical
corrections or punishment in training.
Cozy is a Cairn Terrier. She was a
conformation dog before she came to live with me. She finished her AKC conformation
championship in 2000, her Junior Earthdog in 2003, Master Earthdog in 2006, and
is working on her MACH. She was invited to the AKC
Agility Invitational in 2008. Cozy loves playing ball and taking long hikes more than
anything else. She has a Versatility title from the Cairn
Terrier Club of America.
Tucker is the Border Terrier who can do
anything. He finished his AKC conformation championship at 20 months old, finished his
Master Earthdog title at age 2, and has been working in agility and RallyO since
then. His latest venture is Nosework. Tucker has a
Versatility Excellent title from the Border Terrier Club of
America.
Kilda is the dog who tries harder than
anyone. She is teaching me how to work with a dog who is
kinda scared of stuff, but really wants to do earthdog, obedience, and agility. Kilda is a
Master Earthdog and is in training for nosework and rally obedience. She has a Versatility
title from the Border Terrier Club of
America.
Wager is my FIRST Scottie. He's working on earthdog,
agility, and rally obedience exercises. Wager is a typical Scottie
with strong opinions about everything. He's been a blast to train. He's
quick to learn and loves an audience.
Jackson is my SECOND Scottie. Jackson came
for a visit to our house with his litter when his breeders needed a puppy-sitter. At 11 weeks old,
Jackson decided that he'd found his forever home, and I couldn't
argue with him. Jackson loves any training I can imagine for
him - agility, obedience, earthdog, or tricks. He got his Rally
Novice title at 10 months, Novice Agility and Novice
Agility Jumpers titles at 20 months. Now he's working on his
MACH! Jackson earned his first Versatility title from the Scottish Terrier Club
of America in 2010.
And a
little about me: I started training my own dogs in the early 1990s. When
I started to foster Cairn Terriers in 1996, I began learning more and
more about training "challenging" dogs. In 1999, I took my first clicker seminar
and I have been a dedicated clicker trainer since then.
